Terms and Conditions

Welcome to Kumana National Park Safari, your trusted partner for unforgettable wildlife experiences in Kumana National Park, Sri Lanka. By booking a safari or using our services, you agree to the following Terms and Conditions.

1. Booking and Payment

  • All safari bookings must be made in advance through our official website or authorized booking agents to ensure availability and smooth planning.

  • All payments are processed in Sri Lankan Rupees (LKR).

  • Full payment is required at the time of booking to confirm and reserve your safari slot. A booking is considered confirmed only after the full payment has been successfully received.

  • Payments may be made through our online payment portal or other payment methods made available by us.

  • The price displayed at the time of booking will be the applicable price for your confirmed reservation. Once full payment has been received, the confirmed booking price will not be changed due to subsequent changes in fuel costs, park fees, exchange rates, or other operational costs.

  • All prices for new bookings are subject to change without prior notice due to factors such as park fees, fuel costs, government regulations, or other operational expenses.

  • Our online payment gateway provider is Stripe. Payments processed through Stripe are subject to Stripe’s applicable terms, policies, and payment processing requirements. By making a payment through our website, you acknowledge and agree to comply with Stripe’s applicable terms.

1.1 Pickup and Drop-off Services

  • We offer free pick-up and drop-off services exclusively within the Panama and Arugambay areas.

  • Guests staying outside these areas are responsible for arranging their own transportation to and from the safari meeting point.

  • Alternatively, we can arrange transportation for an additional charge, depending on the guest’s location. Applicable transportation fees will be communicated during the booking process.

  • Please inform us of your pick-up location in advance so that we can confirm eligibility, timing, and any applicable additional charges.

  • Timeliness is essential. Guests must be ready at the agreed pick-up time to avoid delays to the safari schedule.

2. Cancellation and Refund Policy

  • We understand that travel plans can sometimes change. If you need to cancel your safari, please contact us as early as possible.

  • Cancellations made at least 48 hours before the scheduled safari start time may be eligible for a refund, subject to any non-recoverable fees or charges associated with the booking.

  • Cancellations made less than 48 hours before the scheduled safari start time may not be eligible for a refund, as we may already have committed vehicles, guides, permits, and other resources to your booking.

  • No-shows and cancellations made after the scheduled safari start time are non-refundable.

  • If you are unable to attend due to unexpected travel circumstances, we encourage you to contact us as soon as possible. Where practical, we may offer a date change instead of a cancellation, subject to availability.

  • Refunds, where applicable, will be processed using the original payment method or another reasonable method agreed upon by both parties. Processing times may vary depending on the payment provider or financial institution.

  • If the safari is cancelled by us due to circumstances such as national park closure, severe weather, natural disasters, government restrictions, or other circumstances that prevent us from operating the safari, we will provide either a full refund or the option to reschedule the booking, depending on the circumstances and the guest’s preference.

  • Guests are encouraged to obtain appropriate travel insurance to cover unforeseen circumstances, travel disruptions, medical expenses, and other costs that may arise during their trip.

3. Date Changes

  • We understand that travel plans can change. Date changes are allowed free of charge, provided that the request is made within the applicable notice period.

  • For standard safaris, requests to change the safari date must be received at least 1 day before the originally scheduled safari start time.

  • For camping inside Kumana National Park, due to stricter park regulations, permits, and logistical arrangements, date-change requests must be submitted at least 14 days before the original camping date.

  • We will make every reasonable effort to accommodate your requested new date. However, we cannot guarantee the availability of the same vehicle, guide, or package on the new date.

  • The new date will be subject to availability and will only be confirmed once we have reviewed and accepted the date-change request.

  • If the requested new date has a different applicable rate, any difference in price may apply.

4. Safari Itinerary and Changes

  • Safari itineraries are planned in advance but may be subject to change without prior notice due to weather conditions, wildlife movements, park regulations, road conditions, or other unforeseen circumstances.

  • The safety of our guests and the protection of wildlife are our top priorities. Therefore, our drivers and guides may modify routes, timings, or activities when necessary.

  • Some safari packages may or may not include park entrance fees, meals, refreshments, or additional services. Guests should carefully review their booking confirmation to understand the specific inclusions and exclusions of their selected package.

  • If park authorities restrict access to certain areas or routes, we reserve the right to adjust the safari itinerary accordingly.

  • Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed, as animals move freely within their natural habitat and their behavior is beyond our control.

5. Safety, Clothing, and Responsibility

  • Guests are required to follow all instructions and safety guidelines provided by our professional guides, drivers, and staff throughout the safari.

  • Appropriate clothing is recommended. Guests should avoid wearing luminous, bright, or highly colorful clothing, as this may make them more noticeable to wildlife. We recommend neutral or earth-tone colors such as green, brown, beige, or khaki.

  • We recommend wearing comfortable, breathable, and weather-appropriate clothing along with sturdy closed-toe shoes suitable for rough terrain and outdoor conditions.

  • Participation in the safari is at the guest’s own risk. To the extent permitted by applicable law, Kumana National Park Safari, its employees, agents, guides, drivers, or affiliates shall not be held responsible for injury, accident, illness, loss, or damage sustained during the safari, except where such liability cannot legally be excluded.

  • Guests with medical conditions, allergies, mobility limitations, or other circumstances that may affect their participation should inform us at the time of booking so that we can make appropriate arrangements or advise on suitability.

6. Guest Conduct

  • All guests are expected to behave respectfully toward wildlife, other guests, guides, drivers, park staff, and local communities.

  • Interference with wildlife, including feeding, attempting to touch animals, approaching animals too closely, or deliberately disturbing wildlife, is strictly prohibited.

  • Smoking is not permitted inside safari vehicles or within restricted areas of the national park.

  • Guests are responsible for any damage caused to safari vehicles, equipment, or other property due to negligence, intentional misconduct, or inappropriate behavior and may be required to pay the associated repair or replacement costs.

  • Any disruptive, abusive, or unsafe behavior that jeopardizes the safety or enjoyment of other guests, staff, or wildlife may result in the immediate termination of the safari without a refund.

7. Photography and Media Use

  • Our staff may take photographs and short video footage during safaris for marketing, promotional, educational, and social media purposes.

  • If you do not wish to appear in photographs or videos used publicly, please notify our team before the safari begins.

  • Guests are welcome to take photographs and videos for personal use. However, the use of flash photography and loud noises is discouraged, as these may disturb wildlife and other guests.

  • We respect guest privacy and will not intentionally publish personal information such as names, contact details, or booking information without consent.

8. Liability

  • Kumana National Park Safari is not liable for delays, cancellations, itinerary changes, or interruptions caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to adverse weather, national park closures, government restrictions, road conditions, wildlife behavior, natural disasters, or other unforeseen circumstances.

  • We accept no responsibility for lost, stolen, or damaged personal belongings during the safari.

  • Guests participate in the safari at their own risk and are strongly encouraged to maintain appropriate travel, health, accident, and personal belongings insurance.

  • Nothing in these Terms and Conditions shall exclude or limit any liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited under the laws of Sri Lanka.

9. Governing Law

  • These Terms and Conditions are governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.

  • Any disputes arising from the booking or use of our services shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Sri Lanka.
