Terms and Conditions

Welcome to Kumana National Park Safari your trusted partner for unforgettable wildlife experiences in Kumana National Park, Sri Lanka. By booking a safari or using our services, you agree to the following terms and conditions:

1. Booking and Payment

  • All safari bookings must be made in advance through our official website or authorized booking agents to ensure availability and smooth planning.

  • Payments are accepted via major credit and debit cards including Visa, MasterCard, and American Express.

  • To confirm your reservation, a partial payment in USD is required at the time of booking. This deposit secures your safari date, vehicle, and guide availability.

  • The remaining balance must be paid in full before the safari begins, either via our online payment portal or upon arrival at our office or hotel.

  • Please note that we only accept payments in USD for the deposit. If you opt to pay your remaining balance in Sri Lankan Rupees (LKR), the amount will be calculated based on the prevailing USD to LKR exchange rate on your reservation date. Currency fluctuations after the booking date will not affect this calculation.

  • All prices listed are subject to change without prior notice due to factors like park fees, fuel costs, or government regulations; however, once a booking is confirmed and deposit received, your price is locked in.

1.1 Pickup and Drop-off Services

  • We offer free pick-up and drop-off services exclusively within the Panama and Arugambay areas.

  • Guests staying outside these areas will need to arrange their own transportation to and from the safari meeting point.

  • Alternatively, we can arrange transportation for an additional charge, which will depend on the guest’s location. The applicable fees will be communicated during the booking process.

  • Please inform us of your pick-up location in advance to confirm eligibility, timing, and any additional charges.

  • Timeliness is essential; guests must be ready at the agreed pick-up time to avoid delays.

2. Cancellation and Refund Policy

  • The deposit paid at the time of booking is strictly non-refundable under all circumstances, including cancellations due to personal reasons, visa issues, or travel disruptions.

  • We do not provide refunds for cancellations or no-shows.

  • Guests are encouraged to consider travel insurance to cover unforeseen events beyond our control.

  • If you fail to arrive on the scheduled safari date without prior notification, the booking will be considered forfeited.

3. Date Changes

  • We understand that travel plans can change. Therefore, date changes are allowed free of charge, provided you notify us in advance.

  • For standard safaris, requests to change your safari date must be received at least 1 day before your originally scheduled safari start time.

  • For camping inside Kumana National Park, due to stricter park regulations and logistics, date change requests must be submitted at least 14 days prior to the original camping date. This allows us to secure necessary permits and arrangements.

  • While we will make every effort to accommodate your new date, please be aware that we cannot guarantee the availability of the same vehicle, guide, or package for the new date due to operational constraints.

  • Any subsequent booking confirmations for the new date will be subject to availability and may be confirmed only after receiving your request.

4. Safari Itinerary and Changes

  • Safari itineraries provided are planned but may be subject to change without prior notice to adapt to weather conditions, wildlife movements, park regulations, or unforeseen circumstances.

  • Safety of guests and protection of wildlife are our top priorities; therefore, guides may modify routes, timings, or activities as necessary.

  • Some safari packages may or may not include park entrance fees, meals, or additional services; please carefully review your booking confirmation to understand your package inclusions.

  • If park authorities restrict access to certain areas, we reserve the right to adjust the itinerary accordingly.

5. Safety, Clothing, and Responsibility

  • Guests are required to follow all instructions and safety guidelines provided by our professional guides and staff throughout the safari.

  • Appropriate clothing is mandatory: Guests should avoid wearing luminous, bright, or colorful clothing, which can disturb wildlife or attract unwanted attention. We recommend wearing neutral or earth-tone colors such as green, brown, beige, or khaki to blend into the natural environment.

  • We advise wearing comfortable, breathable, and weather-appropriate attire along with sturdy closed-toe shoes suitable for rough terrain.

  • Participation in the safari is at your own risk. Kumana National Park Safari, its employees, agents, or affiliates will not be held responsible for any injury, accident, illness, or loss sustained during the safari.

  • Guests with medical conditions, allergies, or mobility limitations must inform us at the time of booking so we can make necessary arrangements or advise on suitability.

6. Guest Conduct

  • All guests are expected to behave respectfully toward wildlife, other guests, guides, and park staff.

  • Interference with wildlife, including feeding, approaching too closely, or disturbing animals, is strictly prohibited.

  • Smoking is not allowed inside vehicles or within the park boundaries.

  • Guests are responsible for any damage caused to safari vehicles, equipment, or property due to negligence or misconduct and may be held liable for repair or replacement costs.

  • Any disruptive behavior that jeopardizes the safety or enjoyment of others may result in termination of the safari without refund.

7. Photography and Media Use

  • Our staff may take photographs and short video footage during safaris for marketing, promotional, educational, and social media purposes.

  • If you do not wish to be featured in any photos or videos used publicly, please notify our team before the safari begins.

  • Guests are welcome to take photographs and videos for personal use; however, use of flash photography or loud noises is discouraged as it can disturb animals and other guests.

  • We respect your privacy and will never share personal data without your consent.

8. Liability

  • Kumana National Park Safari is not liable for any delays, cancellations, or changes caused by factors outside our control, including but not limited to adverse weather, park closures, government restrictions, road conditions, or wildlife behavior.

  • We accept no responsibility for lost, stolen, or damaged personal belongings during the safari.

  • Guests participate in the safari at their own risk and are encouraged to carry personal insurance for health, accident, and travel coverage.

9. Governing Law

  • These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.

  • Any disputes arising from the booking or use of our services will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of Sri Lankan courts.
